AnnaSophia and Bethany Hamilton will receive Maverick Awards during the Cinequest Film Festival on March 12th. Hamilton will receive the special "Life of a Maverick Award" and AnnaSophia will be honoured with Cinequest's "Emerging Maverick Award". "Soul Surfer" will be closing the Cinequest Film Festival, at the California Theater, in San Jose, California.
The Cinequest Film Festival 21 serves Maverick film artists, movie lovers and students and runs from March 1st to March 13th in San Jose, CA. Cinequest is known for the discovery of new and emerging film artists. The festival presents 200 international films with over 600+ film artists, technologists, and professionals from 44 countries in attendance. Over 10,000 artists have attended to date. Exhibiting unique social and artistic visions from around the globe, Cinequest's dynamic festival engages audiences in thought-provoking dialogue, giving film artists and film lovers alike an opportunity to connect.

During the festival all Cinequest box offices at the Camera 12, San Jose Repertory Theatre and the California Theatre will be open 45 minutes prior to the first daily screening. The Denver Film Society is hosting Denver's first International Women's Film Festival called "Women + Film VOICES Film" and it will run from March 8-13th at the new Denver Film Society's center on Colfax. It is a celebration of women and a call to act. VOICES will educate on world issues, inspire the audience to be courageous and to act on being the change we want to see in the world. There will be a great line up of films, with Q&A afterwards; fun parties; and "salons" where you can come and meet leaders in the global community that are making a difference. Come and join us! I'll be there. 'Soul Surfer' will be screened March 9th at 7pm. Bethany Hamilton will be there too!

On December 9th AnnaSophia was a judge/taste tester at the Red Robin Restaurant hamburger contest. She couldn't wait, the hamburgers are awesome and the event was for a great cause - to raise money and awareness for "The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children". AnnaSophia was out on 9/11/09, which is our National Day of Service. She and her friends volunteered at an after school program. AnnaSophia and her costar Alexander Ludwig from Race to Witch Mountain, recently visited Mattel's Children's Hospital at UCLA. This is what AnnaSophia had to say "These kids are the bravest people I have met! I was overwhelmed by their strength and courage. I felt so lucky to have spent time with these incredible children. The 14th Annual Palm Beach International Film Festival (PBIFF) will present its "Horizon Award" to AnnaSophia on Friday, April 24, during a black tie awards gala at the Boca Raton Resort and Club. This award recognizes young actors emerging talent and excellent work in film.
The Palm Beach International Film Festival (PBIFF) will host their 14th annual event April 23 -27, 2009. The film festival, ranked one of the top 25 Independent Film Festivals worldwide, showcases more than 80 independent films, presents countywide celebrity-attended events and parties along with enlightening film industry seminars, all within a five-day celebration of the past, present and future of the motion picture industry.
The PBIFF is a celebration of American and International Independent Film that is growing in size and stature as one of the only festivals in the world that gives back to the community. The PBIFF is a not-for-profit 501(c) (3) organization supporting film and TV programs in local schools. Unlike many festivals, the PBIFF is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of young people by helping to prepare them for fulfilling their dreams to one day work in the world of film and TV. Proceeds raised each year go to area schools to provide new technologies for optimal learning in the forms of grants and scholarships. In addition, during the festival, students from the high school, community college and university level from around the state of Florida enter their film projects and are awarded scholarship monies to enhance their education.
Books and stories unite people. The event in the Boulder Library at the 3rd of April proved it to be true. The library chose the book 'Bridge to Terabithia' this year for the 'One Book Programme'. The auditorium was packed when AnnaSophia entered stage at 6.30 p.m. like announced, to give a Q & A to the expectant audience. She answered patiently and humorously every single question concerning the shooting of 'The Bridge to Terabithia', her film carrier and future projects. She was also questioned about her trip to India to the Dalits last summer (have a closer look in the section: 'Changing the world').
Eventually, after the Q & A the screening of the film 'Bridge to Terabithia' started.

AnnaSophia Robb shows off her pearly whites as she premieres her new flick, Race to Witch Mountain, at Hollywood's El Captian Theater on Wednesday evening (March 11). The 15-year-old actress plays Sara, one of two siblings in the movie who have supernatural powers, who team up with a Las Vegas cab driver (Dwayne Johnson) to save both of their worlds. AnnaSophia dished to Girl's Life mag about the first time her friends saw the trailer to Race. She shared, "The Race to Witch Mountain ad came on during the Super Bowl and, of course, the whole school watched it. By Monday, everyone had seen it. They didn't act any different. It wasn't like, 'You are in a movie!' It was just kind of like, 'You worked with Dwayne Johnson & that is so cool! He is so hot!'"
